Piano Rectial

Tyler has been taking piano lessons after school with a company called Elements Music for the past 6 weeks.  He has caught on very quickly and has learned a lot about notes & rhythms.  This afternoon was his first recital and he has been working very hard on his song.... Star Wars.

Soccer Time!

This morning was Tyler's first soccer game of the season.  His team is the Great White Sharks.  We are trying out a different league this year and so far it is going well.  They only play with 3 kids from each team during a game, so the kids get more playing time.  Sebastian even had fun cheering his big brother on, "Go Tydo!"  (Tyler is #7)

Rock Climbing

Today we went down to the Freestone Recreation Center in Gilbert with a friend and Tyler got to try his hand at some rock climbing.  It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but he caught on and had a great time.  We will definitely be going back to try this again!

Here's a little video of Tyler climbing....

A Duckie!

A funny story that I wanted to share:

The other morning Sebastian had a yogurt smoothie for breakfast and as usual there was some sort of spill.  I heard Sebastian say, "Mama I spill my yogurt", so I went to get a cloth to clean it up.  I started to wipe it up and Sebastian said, "No Mama, I made a duckie".  I looked down and sure enough, there was his yogurt spill in the shape of a duckie!

Can you see the duck?

Our baby starts Preschool!

We sent Tyler off to Kindergarten last week and this week our baby starts Preschool!  Sebastian will be joining me this year at Little Light Preschool.  I will be teaching in the 4 year old class 3 days a week and Sebastian will be attending the 3 year old class on those days (even though he won't be 3 until Nov.).  He has been going to work with me for a few weeks while we got things ready and was enjoying having the run of the school while I worked.  I thought for sure he'd have no problems on the first day since he's been there so much and he knows everyone.  That didn't really happen though..... the first day was a little rougher than expected.

Tyler ended up being home sick on the first day of Preschool, so I took Sebastian and came home with Tyler.  Sebastian was very sad that I brought him in and then left him there.  He cried and called out for Mama until I was out the door.  I had to just turn and leave quickly for both of our sakes.  He was all smiles when I returned at noon though and didn't want to leave.   His teacher said he cried for about 45 min. before he finally settled down and got to playing.  Day 2 may or may not go better with me actually staying to work.  Keep your fingers crossed for Friday.....

Off to Kindergarten!

We knew this day was coming, but it seems like it came way too fast.  It seems like just the other day we were holding our little baby Tyler in our arms and today we walked him to his first day of kindergarten.  Our morning went very smoothly and Tyler was so excited to finally be going to the "big school".  He is in all day kindergarten this year and although the first few weeks will probably be tiresome, I think he will do great!  I am looking forward to some quality time with Sebastian while his big brother is in school.  Here are a few photos from our first day:
The big Kindergartener!  Of course he chose a Star Wars shirt to wear on his first day.

Along with his Lego Star Wars back pack and lunch box.

Sebastian wanted to have his picture taken with his back pack this morning too.

Flagstaff, Az

A few days ago I took the boys up north the Flagstaff, Az to escape the summer heat a little.  My sister joined us with her 3 boys and we had quite an adventure with 5 boys (all under the age of 5).  We did a little hiking, played at the park and enjoyed exploring nature.  We also spent one day at Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde.  It was a little warm, but a great experience to see some animals up close.  We fed carrots to the giraffes, watched the Tigers splash in the water and even touched a giant snake!

If you've never spent a few nights with 5 little boys in a 2 bedroom condo away from home, you don't know what you're missing!!! (Then again, you can probably guess)

                                Lunch at the park

Trying to take a picture of all 5 boys... not an easy thing to do!

Tyler and Colton on the dinosaur
And yes, even with a broken arm, Sebastian wanted to ride the dinosaur!

Once again, trying to get a picture of all of them.  This was the best one too.

At least the car ride home was peaceful!
